Inauguration of Ywdis Activities for the year 2011 - 2012 and Swearing in Ceremony of new Office Bearers of Ywdis
The Youth Wing for Disability Services (YWDIS) consists of student volunteers from colleges, who wish to involve in services for persons with disabilities. The youth wing is facilitated by the UDIS Forum with the CSI Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science as the nodal agency. The activities of the Youth Wing are primarily coordinated by an executive committee consisting of student volunteers. At this stage, the Youth Wing and its executive committee consist mostly of post-graduate students from the social work departments of colleges, but all students are encouraged to join the future activities of YWDIS. The activities of YWDIS includes organising student seminars, essay writing contests, oratorical contests, work with the community, youth rallies, industrial visits to identify jobs for persons with disabilities, school awareness programmes, etc. In the past three years the YWDIS has organized several student seminars, essay writing contests, oratorical contests and also oriented more than 13000 college and school students on disability management.
The inauguration of YWDIS activities for the year 2011 - 2012 and the swearing in ceremony of new office bearers of YWDIS was held at CSI Bishop College of Arts and Science on 21 October 2011. Mrs. Mirnalini R David, Principal, CSI Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science administered the oath for the newly elected office bearers. Dr. MNG Mani, President, UDIS Forum presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. The newly elected office bearers and the executive members of YWDIS are as follows,
